Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Can I recieve child support from a father I've never met?

I have just recently found out that my biological father lives five minutes from my house. He does not want anything to do with me. If I can prove he is my real father, then can I recieve the seventeen years of child support I never got?.

Possibly...I need more information. Were you adopted by another father? If you weren't adopted, the deadline for bringing a parentage case is essentially age 20. If you're under 20 you can bring that case and likely a court would order dna testing be done. Our parentage law does allow for a person to collect retroactive child support but what it depends on is sort of generally when did the father know that he had a child. You need to be able to show that he knew about this child/you and refused to pay support.
