relinquish paternal rights

not married to mom, have one child with her a 2yr.old, mom is recently married, i just begun this year paying child support, can i terminate my rights to the child, no crimes, or state invol. has with this child. mom's new hus- band may want to adopt, i'm not sure.

Re: relinquish paternal rights

Even though you relinquish your rights as a parent, you are still liable to support your child under Illinois law. If he is adopted and you consent to the adoption, then you are no longer liable for support.
