Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Relinquishing rights

My daughter and her boyfriend at the time, relinquished their parental rights and my husband and myself adopted my grandson. It was all done properly by law and the birth father stood in front of the judge and gave up his rights. Can he now after two years, fight for his rights back. I thought I heard the judge at the time tell him that this could never be reversed back.
