Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

remarrying

I got divorced in MO & they require you to wait 30 days to remarry. Does the 30 day wait apply if i get married in another state? I'm getting remarried in Illinois and the date i wanted is before my 30 day wait in missouri.

Re: remarrying

In the overall scheme of things, it is probably not going to matter. Even if for some reason your remarriage is "unlawful" in Missouri because you didn't wait the entire 30 days before remarrying in Illinois. Once the 30 days passed, your new marriage would be lawful in all States. However, a word of warning, since I don't know the precise reason why Missouri requires a 30 day waiting period, I am only making a best guess. Even though I have no reason to doubt that |I am correct, your best course of action is to wait out the 30 days and then get married. After all, it is the marriage and not the date that should be the most important.
