Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Response to petition to declare the non parentage of minor child

What does this statement mean: ''WHEREFORE, the Respondent prays that the above entiltled matter be dismissed for want of equity.''

I'm the respondent.

your attorney is saying the court should dismiss the Petition because it fails to state a cause that the court can find a remedy for, or that the Petitioner fails to ask for a legal equitable remedy

Good question.

I think it is asking that the attorney asks the case be dismissed because there is no fairness. But this would not apply to a paternity case.

Better ask the person who drafted the petition or response.
