Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My rights

My father passed away last night. I need to go to California to the funeral. My babies father which I live with says he will not let me take my 2 year old son that we share. We are not married. I want to know if I have any legal rights where this is concerned

You'd have a problem if you tried to leave the country. Just going to another state is a non-issue. If he tries to threaten you in any way, call the police.
