Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My rights as a father
I have a now four year old son. In December of 2004 we went to court Because she wanted to move out of the state Of IL. I allowed her to take him. threw the courts and we had visitation all worked out threw the court. I pay child support and now that she's moved with my son I haven't seen him in over a year and a half. I don't have her number to call her and she doesn't call me to let me know anything. My family and I have been alienated from my child. I guess my question is if I do take her to court for contempt.what will they do to her? It's been a battle since day one from lying to the judge saying that she didnt know if this was my child then we got a DNA test done and he is my son. after spending over 4 grand in lawyers and trying to make things work with her nothing she knows how to play the court system! she has been threw this with 2 other ex's. my next question is i'm thinking of terminating my right because my son doesn't know me from Adam. How do I go about doing that if I decided to do that?
thanks

Re: My rights as a father
Hello. I strongly recommend that you
stay in your son's life. Take mom back to court and ask the court to hold her in contempt assuming you have a set visitation order that she is violating. If you do not have a set visitation order with specific dates and an option to have extended time with your child during holidays,
now is the time to get one. Mom can
be found. You need a good private investigator, but probably that is not even necessary. I suggests you take action now. Relinquishing your parental rights is not an option. I will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail. The best way to fight evil is for good men to take action.
