Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Rights of grandparents of neglected children.

My grandchildren are currently being neglected by both parents. I have reported the neglect to Illinois Children and Family Services twice; this resulted in my daughter allowing me to see them only once a month. Once she refused to take the baby to the hospital, so I took her but the hospital would not treat the baby without parental consent. Do grandparents have any rights or should I sit back and allow my grandchildren to be neglected? They are not fed properly, not kept clean and not given the proper medical treatment. Any help will be sincerely appreciated. Thanks,

Re: Rights of grandparents of neglected children.

You need to keep working with DCFS regarding the neglect. Your alternative is to hire an attorney and try to get guardianship of the children - but you will need solid proof that they are truly neglected.
