my rights

Iam not married and i used to be

with my boyfriend but we broke up

and now he wants to take me to

court for joint custody,but the point

is he wants to stick it t me b/c i

broke up with himhe said he can

take the baby whenever he wants

and she's only 2months old. What

are my rights he says we are 50/50

If your boyfriend has not been legally declared your child's father or has not signed a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity, he has no parental rights at this time. Generally, the courts lean toward allowing a mother custody of a very young child. Will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.

He has the right to joint legal custody but it would be very hard for him to get any sort of physical custody. Joint legal merely means that he can see the child, and stay involved in the child's life (which you should want anyway).
