Re: Rights

It depends on why the social worker is there; is it by court order under a neglect/abuse case, or are they investigating a possible allegation not yet filed in court. If it is by court order then your uncooperation is going to be part of their report to the court and the judge may not take too kindly to the fact you are not cooperating. If they are investigating an allegation, perhaps you would want to contact an attorney to help you determine what the allegation is and how to proceed. Allegations can be found to be "founded" in which case they are reported to the State's Attorney or "unfounded" where it closes the investigation. Be careful before you act or do not act by first determining why the social worker is there and which agency they are representing.
