Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Room and board

My husband and his ex-wife are in court because their daughter turned eighteen and child support is now over but she is demanding room and board for her while she is living at home and going to junior college. She wants $750 per month which is more than what he was paying in child support. The judge was just about to grant this when our attorney stated that that is more then 1/2 of the fathers monthly income, he won't be able to survive. Now we have a status date, what do we do. Is there a law that states he is to pay room and board for the child who is emancipate?

Re: Room and board

Court can require father to pay some of the educational expenses. The child's resources and the Mother's resources are also considered.

Re: Room and board

Given what you said, no child support. 18 and no more, (there are very very small exceptions)
