Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Run away dad

During our marriage my husband bought a home. He kicked me n both my little girls out and moved his mother and some friends in. Since then he has sold the house and moved to another state and doesnt want to pay child support or get a job (he's living off the money from the house). The system has been taking forever and has me sitting. I know where he lives and have provided this info. Since we are married and I helped pay for the home am I entitled to any of the money he sold the house for?

Re: Run away dad

Hello. My answer is yes. The home was marital

property, including the proceeds from the sale.

If you decide to file for divorce, then you can

make a run for the money (house sale proceeds).

Otherwise, there is little relief available. This is strictly a court matter. Will be happy

to discuss this with you further.
