Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Not on Salary- Impact on Support & Maintenance

My wife wants maintenance & child support for our 2 minor children. I am not on salary, so my income varies significantly from month to month. From what I understand, I would pay 25% of my income for child support alone. Since my income fluctuates, should I still expect to pay a fixed monthly amount for maintenance & support? That could get very difficult in months when I'm not making enough to cover that amount plus my own living expenses!

Re: Not on Salary- Impact on Support & Maintenance

By statute the support amount is 28% not 25%.....generally an average is taken using your high and low months.......when you are making more you save for the months you are making less.
