Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am considering separating from my husband. We have a baby boy and I am a stay at home mom. I don't have the resources to stay in my current state. Am I able to take my son while I go stay with relatives in another state?

Once a case is filed you can not leave the state, except foe a short vacation. You can not move to another state. If there is no case filed, you are free to live with your child anywhere you choose.
