If you were never married, but you have three children, you can go for child support. There are a lot of questions to ask in order to figure out how to proceed. First, did your ex sign an acknowledgment of paternity for all three children? You need to file a petition for child support. You can do so pro se or hire an attorney to help you. Illinois statutory guidelines state that child support for three children is typically 32% of a person's income.
