Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I share custody with my ex, every other week, but my husband just lost his job and I'm not working. What is the worst that he could do when he finds out?

Unless you stop feeding your kids and start living out of your car or in a cardboard box, there really isn't much that your ex can do. I assume he is paying child support. If its been awhile since support was adjusted you might want to consider going back into court for an increase if he tries to get residential custody of the kids. However, the best thing both you and your current husband can do is try and find any kind of job you can right now to get past this slump.
The worst is you could lose custody. By asking for the worse, that is an appropriate response. But the better response, is that your new husband's loss of job is not a basis to change anything unless he was fired for conduct which might be detrimental to your kid.
