Sibling Custody
My 17 year old brother was adopted by my aunt when he was 9. I think the adoption process involved foul play. She lied about the whereabouts of my father and took sole custody of him after my mother died. She has since changed his last name. My father did not have the money to fight for custody. He was divorced from my mother but reconciled and never remarried. My brother is very unhappy and would like me to take custody of him. She voluntarily let him leave and he is now staying with a friend. Is it possible to gain custody of him since his legal guardian has left him in the street? Also, their is a trust account being controlled by a judge to pay for schooling. My brother does not have direct access to his money until he is 25. If custody was possible, would the rights to petition the judge for expenditures (i--name removed--school, books,) be transferred to me? He is a bright kid in AP classes 5.0 GPA and top 1% rank. I am a married 26 year old IT-Systems Engineer with a home and 3 children. You advice is greatly appreciated.

Your brother will be an adult in less then a year, so I don't really see the benefit in gaining custody. As to his trust, the trust documents govern.
If you are afraid your aunt will take his trust money before he turns 18, then you should do something, otherwise, when he turns 18, he is in control.
