Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My sister and I have been financially supporting our very elderly mother although she lives in her own apartment with full-time carers. Recently, a fire in her building required her to find temporary housing elsewhere. My sister has offered to have her (and the carer) stay with her.

However, because of a recent disagreement with my sister's husband, she has not "banned" me from seeing my mother...and I may never come to her home to see her.

Is this legal?

Is there anything I can do to require her to let me visit my mother?

You can file for "guardianship" of your mother based upon her inability to care for herself. Check with your local court clerk for the local procedure.
