Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My son graduated high school this past May 2016. He has Central Auditory Processing Disorder, but with an IQ of 77 (tested 4 years ago). My ex wife is demanding I pay support for him until he's at least 35 years old., because she said he is unable to work/hold a job. His IQ is too high to receive any government assistance. Therefore, in the governments eyes, he is quite able to hold a job. Does she have a leg to stand on?

Under 750 ILCS 5/513.5 if your son is determined to be in need of support , the law is clear that you might have to pay support for the rest f his life. If his IQ is 77, and he is unable to hold a job, he may well be eligible for government assistance, but that does not stop your potential liability for permanent child support.
