Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My sons father left exactly 1 week after he was born, to another country. When I was pregnant I found out he had gone to jail for sexually harassing a 13 year old girl(he was 18) at that time. He left because of this and I haven't heard from him since. I'm trying to figure out what the best thing to do to get sole custody for my son. I know he is never coming back because he hasn't registered as a sexual predator for almost 3 years now, and there is a warrant out for his arrest. What can I do to get sole custody of my son?

You have sole custody of your child. Unless and until there is a VAP or a court order, the father has no rights. You can not terminate his rights.
