Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My son's mother has decided to move out of state. It has been agreed that my son will be living with me full time. We were never married and she has had full custody since 2000. I have had regular visits during that time. This is an amicable situation, but I need to know what I should to to make sure that I have legal rights as a custodial parent now that he will be living with me full time. What do I need to do to ensure this?

It is best if you have a court order giving you custody of the child.
