Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Spousal support

My fiance is ordered to pay support to his ex-wife. If we get married, can she take him back to court for more money because of my income. He has a year left according to the decree and is already paying 1000 dollars a month. Additionally, I have 2 children and they had none - not sure if that matters.

Re: Spousal support

Greetings - You voice a concern that I have

heard many times before. In my opinion, you need

not worry. A court has no right to base your

fiance's child support obligation on the additional income that you will bring to the

household in the event you marry. In any event

he needs legal representation so that his rights

as the non-custodial parent can be protected.

I have a five step approach that I suggests to

clients in this situation.
