step parent adoption

my daughters father is sending me a form signing over his rights to my daughter my boyfriend and i are not getting married until sept 09. how long will this form be good for? how long until i have to file this. when i did this form i added that due to lengthy court procedures the form was good for atleast 2 years, but i dont know if that will hold up in court.

I would suggest you have an adoption attorney look at it. There is a specific form for the purpose of having a parent consent to terminating their rights. I don't think there is a time limit for it, but you need to make sure it is properly drafted for it to hold up in court.
