Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Step parent oblagation
My husband got custody and works three 10 hour days, mother refuses to pick up child for her visits on his work days and filed a Rule to show cause. Is it a step parent obligation to drop off child for visit if father is at work?

If mother wants visits, I don't see why she can't pick up the child herself. Often times step-parents may voluntarily choose to help out. I don't know all the facts of your situation so your husband may want to consult with an attorney.
Re: Step parent oblagation
I am a bit confused. Why was your husband's job not factored into deciding how to work visitation?
Step-parents have absolutely no obligation - these are not your children under the law so you have no rights and no responsibilities. But you may volunteer to help your husband by picking up and dropping off. In any case, I doubt a rule to show cause will come to much if you are willing to work out a transportation compromise and the mother is not.
Your husband should definitely speak to an attorney though. These kinds of contentious visitation fights are really emotionally taxing and it helps when attorneys can talk instead of the parents.
