Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
summons for domestic violence
A petitioner has been granted a temporary order of protection against me. I have not been charged with a crime. Ahearing is set at which time I can respond to the petioners side of the story. At this hearing, can I be charged with a crime and/ or be forced to comply with any additional judge orders ,not pertaining to the order of protection, weather the order of protection is upheld or not?

Re: summons for domestic violence
Hello. The petitioner is bringing a civil order
of protection against you. This is not a criminal proceeding. Yes, you will be obligated
to follow the court's orders which pertain to the
order of protection. You definitely should be
represented by a lawyer. Do not take this matter
lightly. Will be happy to answer any additional
questions that you may have.
