Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
support
I have been divorced for 10 years. My ex-wife has custody in IL and I reside in PA. I have not seen or spoken to my daughter for 3 years. I just had an increase in child support and see no end in sight for re-estabishing a relationship with my daughter. I want to know what I have to do to give up my parental rights and move on with my life. My ex-wife and daughter have both stated that they want nothing to do with me as a father or parent. How do I go about this process?

Re: support
Go back to court and seek a modification of the child support order. Other than that it is your legal duty to pay court ordered child support generally up until 18 years of age but under certain circumstances it could be for a longer period of time.
Re: support
You need to hire an attorney and if your wife is willing, you can give up your rights and she can agree that you pay no further support.
Re: support
You may be able to terminate your parental rights in Illinois. However, you will not be relieved of paying child support. That's the law in Illinois.
