Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Taking children out of state on vacation

Hi, my husband and I planned taking his 2 boys to Florida for a long weekend to visit their uncle. We asked my husbands ex if it was ok that we take them to florida since it is out of state. We asked before we bought plane tickets. Now, she is saying that if we take them to Florida this Thursday, that the cops will be waiting for us at the airport. What can we do? We want to take them, but she always does this when she doesn't get her way...

Thanks,

Re: Taking children out of state on vacation

Hello. Your husband should get into

court on an emergency motion asking

the court to approve the Florida trip

since mom originally said it was o.k.

This is a very serious matter and your

husband should move on this quickly

since not being able to go will

disappoint the kids. I will be happy to discuss this with you further. It

appears as if your husband's ex is

trying to alienate the kids from him

and from you. This can be grounds for

a change of custody. In these

situations the court will appoint an attorney for your step children when

there is a motion for change of custody filed.
