Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

taxes

I was divorced 3 years ago. My ex-husband has never showed me the tax forms until just two days ago. The year of '03 we filed joint and I never signed or even knew how much we were getting back. I see now that he received over 5,000 back. It also shows that it was prepared in '05. I've asked for 3 years now to see the taxes and because I'm going back for a review I believe now is the reason he decided to give them to me. Is there something fishy about this. Doesn't my signature need to be on these documents?

Re: taxes

There is nothing "fishy" about filing tax forms late. Alot of people do that. However, signing your name on the form without permission is not legal and is a crime.

The taxes should have been taken care of in the marital settlement agreement. What happened at that time?

You should be entitled to some or all of that money.

You really need to have a lawyer reveiw the situation

email me if you have any questions.
