My Teenage Girlfriend (17) got pregnant 2 weeks before her 17th birthday

I am 18. I was 18 at the time of the pregnancy. My girlfriend is 6 weeks pregnant and her birthday was about 5 weeks ago.

She was 16 at the time and is now 17.

I understand that 17 is the age of consent.

****My Question:****

Now that she is 17 can I be charged ex poste facto?

Hello. You have a problem. Legally

you could be charged with statutory

rape. The law has changed alot and

that is a real risk that you take

when you have relations with a girl

that age. You need to ask your family

to get you a lawyer now. Of course there is always the possibility that your county prosecutor will not do anything, but that office can if they want to. If you are contacted by the police, you should remain silent and get a lawyer quick. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail. Also, sexual relations with

any woman not your wife is risky. One

could always say that she did not consent after the fact, and could then

call the police and have you charged with rape or sexual assault.
