Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Terminating College Contribution

My wife refuses to supply me with any information regarding my daughters college. I am paying blindly and am unable to keep up the steep payments. The law states the if they refuse to provide me with her academic records could be grounds for termination - I have requested them in writing several times my wife has threatened me with legal action and says I am harrassing her. I am contributing over close to 35% of my net income and have absolutely no idea what for - what are my rights and can I use her non-compliance as contempt against her to terminate support. Also I have no contact with my daughter whatsoever and have not spoken to her in over a year.

Re: Terminating College Contribution

I would have to see the actual order regarding the college contribution (which I presume is under section 513 of the IMDMA). If the other side is required to do certain things, and if they do not, you are able to ask to have this support terminated, then that is what you should do. It is a process however, and you can't just decide to stop paying. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
