Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Split up with girlfriend of 5 years, we bought a truck, house, utilities etc. She has served me with papers demanding 3600 for the truck, which is paid off and in my name. Does this sound like something I need legal representation over or is she just trying to get something for nothing?

When you say papers, do you mean a lawsuit or what?
If someone sues you, it is often a good idea to retain an attorney, for obvious reasons. This matter does not sound like a large or complicated matter, and paying for a few hours of an attorney's time may prevent headaches.
