Visitation

i am the custodial parent, the child's father and I were never

married and do not have a legal order for visitation. do I

need his permission to leave the state?

It may depend on whether he is regarded as the legal father - has he ever signed an acknowledgment of paternity? Filed a paternity suit? If not, and there is no legal custody order then you seem to be in luck. But I would need more details to be sure.
