Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Are there any ways to transfer custody of a child with out an attorney?

I am 14 and am abused off and on. My parents smoke/drink/do drugs. I want to know if there are any ways to get custody of myself given to my best friends parents without an attorney. Please help me with this question. Are there any forms or anything availible to get custody of me given to my best friends parents?

First, I am sorry to hear of your situation. Unfortunately it's going to take more than a piece of paper for your best friend's parents to obtain custody of you.

If you're being abused, call the police. That is the first step.

Any adult who wants to adopt you against the wishes of your parents will have to use the court system. So those adults will have to spend a good amount of money, a great deal of time, and understand that the process is very difficult.
