Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My ex wife moved out of state with our child without permission joint custody order says cannot move out of state but its been awhile since she moved I asked a lawyer then he said there was nothing I could do what actions do i need to take to get my child back?

Listen to your lawyer. If it has been "awhile" you sat on your rights and may have considered to have consented to the relocation
