Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Will DCFS do this for adoption?

My new husband and I are doing a step-father adoption.

I have had sole custody for 7years. Bio dad has

consented. My question is: Will DCFS do a drug test for

the adoption or will be just be asked on the

homestudy?

Re: Will DCFS do this for adoption?

A little bit of a strange question. If there is a prior history of drug use there is a more likelihood that they will conduct a homestudy. Based on the results of the homestudy, it is then up to DCFS whether they should pursue it further.

Related family adoptions are favored. In many cases, no investigation or home study is done at all. I cannot predict whether one would be sought in this adoption, and if sought, what the scope of the investigation/home study would be. Your best bet is not to use drugs; then you neednt worry about a drug test.
