Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I'm trying to win sole custody of my 2 little girls(2&4). how do i go about setting up interrogatories and dispositions? and how do i set myself up for a pretrial and trial? i used to have an attorney working for me but it seemed as if he did nothing and still got paid. now i'm laid off and cannot afford to hire another lawyer and i need all the help i can get. i have a trial date set for january 25th. and i'm starting to lose hope of getting custody.
