Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I'm wondering about collecting my ex spouse's social security. We were married for twenty three years. If I don't remarry, when I retire, do I get half his social security at age 66 (or whenever it will be when we get that old) from his total earnings of just half of his social security from the 23 years we were married?

It doesn't work quite that way but you will be entitled to social security based upon your husband's earnings since your were married more than 10 yearas. You need to contact SSA to determine just how much your award will be.
