Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I work with a young lady who seperated from her husband in January. She finally got to go to court for child support in June. There was a court order issued for this husband to pay 800.00 per pay in child support. However, she has received nothing but minimal contributions from him. She has a very sick child who has to go to Children's Hospital often for severe kidney problems. The child is on several expensive medicines. Ericka has had her power turned off, then she lost the house all together. She and her two boys (ages 7 & 4) are living with her parents in a very small house. I've watched as this young girl has lost everything. The husband says his employer is taking the money out of his check the last 2 pays. Her attorney is useless in the matter.

And your question is what. If the money is being taken out of his check, then it may be being sent into the SDU. If Erica is receiving aid, the state gets to keep some of the $. She should call the SDU and see if they are getting the money.

My question to you is "Why is this any of your business?" If you are concerned about this young woman and her children, perhaps you should help her financially or contact public agencies who can possibly help her. It sounds to me like her attorney is doing his/her job. Support is in place. It may not be enough but its what the Judge felt was reasonable given the husband's income. I doubt very much that you know what may be going on with the husband, if the house was lost, the couple was deeply in debt before they separated. Perhaps rather that "watching" while she circles the drain you could do something productive to help her out of this mess.
