Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Wrongful Billing

I was recently sent a bill from a hospital in my name to my address for my daughter. My question is that I don't have custody or any contact with my daughter at all I pay child support for her but that is it her mother doesnt allow me to see her.And I am sick of paying for lawyers about it. I called the hospital about the bill and told them I had no knowledge of this visit and Why was the bill in my name and they told be because that is the information they were given. I told them they need to send this bill to her mother who has custody of her and they said they can't do that that I have to pay for the bill and it is my resposiblity. How is this legel? I was not there I had no knowledge of my daughter going and they still won't tell me why she was there and yet they put a 600.00 in my name! Is there anyway I can get the hospital's billing dept. to put the bill in my daughters mothers name like it should be? Can they just make me pay for it? How cna they put it in my name with out my permission or presence? Is this legal? What can I do to fix this. PLEASE HELP I am sooo sick of being stuck with every single bill for everything and paying out 250.00 a week.

Re: Wrongful Billing

I bet if you read the judgment for dissolution of marriage it orders that you pay these bills. If not, the only way to stop this is to go to court and have your ex enjoined from doing this. You will need a lawyer, regardless of being sick of paying them. You, alone, will make matters worse for yourself. Mostly because you don't know what you're doing, and your attitude. That will come out, and you'll turn the judge off. Abe Lincoln once said "He who has himself as a lawyer, has a fool for a client." Good luck.
