Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

About a year ago my boyfriend was incarcerated, and I left Illinois to find a job. His family decided they didn't want me to take my daughter so I wrote out on a piece of notebook paper that I give them temporary custody until he gets out or until I come home. They took it upon themselves to go to court without my knowledge and get custody of my child now, they're holding that they have custody of my child over mt head and telling me I cannot take my daughter anywhere for example to go see my mother, they're are threating to put an Amber Alert out on me if I take her anywhere. What do I do?

I would need to know more facts and see the court documents before I could tell you the best course of action. If the grandparents really have custody of the child, you have a different fight than if they are just the guardians of the child. I can tell you that, generally, Illinois will recognize the rights of a biological mother above the grandparents. Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
