Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
About a year ago, I found out that I may have a daughter I didn't know about. She is too old to make a legal issue of it, and even if I could, I wouldn't want to upset her by making one.
If she isn't interested in knowing me, or finding out if I am her father or not, and I still want to know if she is my daughter or not, would it be legal for me to have someone perform a paternity test on her abandoned DNA left on a drinking glass, for example (if that is even possible)?
Nothing official will come of it, but it is something that I would really like to know before I die.

If she is over 18 you have no legal way of obtaining her DNA. Other than to calm your concerns and curiosity, what is gained by finding out that the person is your child? If you want to do something without her knowing, that is not a legal question, but a moral one. This is the wrong forum.
