Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Yesterday I received a letter in the mail stating that I owe $6700.00 in child support as of September 30th of this month. The child that this letter is referring to (now 16 years old) was adopted years ago by her maternal grandparents and I have no parental rights. There was never a paternity test and this letter came as a surprise to me. Is someone collecting money from the state? Do I still owe current child support on a child that was adopted? Thank you .

Probably a Default IV-D arrears letter. Better contact DHS and get this straightened out.
