Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois
Fmla
I was just denied Maternity Leave by my employer=Chicago Public Schools because I had a baby last year and was just on leave until January 8, 2007. I requested leave right at the time this baby is due in November 2007. I was told I need to have worked for 12 months or 1250 hours until my next leave would be granted. I need help, I either lose my job or come back after I use the 10 sick days I have. Please help. I am going to be about 30 hours short of the 1250 hours needed. I cannot imagine returing to work 10 days after giving birth and home with a newborn. Thank you!

Re: Fmla
CPS's position appears to be legally sound. However, it is possible that we could write a letter and ask for an equitable accomodation. Send me an e-mail upon receipt of this letter with your contact info.
