Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Auto title transfer

My ex-boyfriend's Mother gave me a car. She signed the title over to me and I had the title legally transferred into my name at the DMV. I paid the required fees and taxes. I am concerned that she is going to try to take the car back with the belief that she still has some rights to the vehicle.

I believe that since the title is now in my name that the vehicle is solely mine and she has no recourse. Can you give me some direction in this matter? Is there any way she can come back and get the vehicle from me?

Auto title transfer

At common law, a gift is a gift and cannot be taken back. The transfer of possession of the car and tender to you of the title is sufficient to establish a gift, unless your boyfriends mother placed a condition on the transfer at the time or prior to the time of transfer (e.g., pay me $XX).
