I backed into a neighbor's garage
How much of the repair costs am I liable for? The garage is not new. My back bumper had only some white paint from the garage trim. I feel I only cracked the wood trim; however, owner had entire door frame replaced and charged me $400. Is that fair?

It may or may not be fair. Offer him what you think is fair. If he declines, he can sue in small claims court and a judge can determine what is fair.
