Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Bank thwarted investigation
The Bank of Montreal by not releasing info they had to two officers working on a missing person's case thwarted the investigation and caused the family to suffer four extra long very painful years. This is provable. What category of law does this fall into and is it the makings for a (civil?) lawsuit? Can you E mail me?

You need to provide a lot more information for anyone to be able to provide an opinion to you.
Re: Bank thwarted investigation
It appears to be general civil litigation, but you have not told me enough to tell whether the bank had the obligation to divulge the information, or was even permitted to divulge it. Some information in the possession of a bank is protected from disclosure.
