Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Breech of contract

I am independant contactor with local newpaper. Recently, my delivery area was cut by one third without my consent and my employee had a falling out with a district manager which they used as a reason to inform that my contract was terminated, although the contract specifically states that termination requires a 30 written notice. They failed to provide the 30 day notice, and when terminating the contract, contacted my employee, not myself. Are they in breech of contract? And if so, am I entitled to any damages? This is my only contract and I am now without work and have a family to support. Please help.

Re: Breech of contract

If the contract required that the paper give you 30 days notice, and the paper failed to give you 30 days notice, then the paper breached the contract. The question then becomes: What damages are you entitled to? One theory would be only 30 days pay. Another theory, more favorable to you, would be that you are still entitled to your pay until the paper gives you a proper 30 days notice. I would be happy to consider representing you.
