Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Citation Notice

I have a judgement against me.I received a citation notice to discover assets.I have a court date for May 18.I live two hundred miles away from where the court date is located and am also 8 months pregnant which means I cannot travel.I am trying to figure out how I can get the court date pushed for a future date, and how I go about doing this.Do I need to contact the Plaintiff's attorney? The citation I received says if I do not appear in court that a body warrant can be issued.I am wondering what I need to do?

Re: Citation Notice

Call the attorney and ask if he can reset it for 2 months and explain the situation. He or she may want proof. If he or she agrees, send them a thank you letter confirming the agreement by certified mail. If that does not work, you will need to

send a motion to court asking for a continuance due to medical reasons. A letter to the judge usually does not work, but a motion may. good luck
