Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Contractor - Faulty Work

I had a contractor install ceramic tile in my home in April '05. Since then I have had numerous tiles crack and the grout continues to crack and break up. They came back once to repair the issues (prior to 1 year) and then billed me for the supplies (extra tiles, grout & mortar) but said they would not charge me for the labor. I proceeded to send them a ceritifed letter explaining why I was not willing to pay for their supplies (improper original install) and also gave them a list of approx 9 more issues (cracks, lose tiles, grout breaking up, etc) to which I have not received a response. I have detailed (exact days of work & issues) info on this and feel as though I deserve either someone to come in and fix their install mistakes or financial restitution. What is my next course of action?

I appreciate any help you can provide. There are more details that I can provide if necessary.

I can not tell how much money is involved from your submission. However, you will probably have to file a small claims suit. If the amopunt at issue is beyond small claims, you should hire an attorney.
