Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Do all contracts signed in IL have a 3-day timeframe to cancel without penalty?
My 18-yr-old took it on himself to sign a housing contract at his college for next semester, and put the $600 deposit on his credit card. Two days later, he found an apartment he'd prefer, off-campus. He notified the school, but it sounds like they consider his deposit to be non-refundable. Is that legal, or does he have a right to cancel the contract within 3 days and get back his deposit?
